Ganna..or Merry Christmas in Ethiopia today! What do they do for Ganna? Yesterday, Jan 6th they fast. Then on Ganna they dress in white shama's and walk to church all day. The first mass service is at 4 a.m. They walk around the church 3 times and light a candle. They are very celebratory of Jesus. In a few weeks they celebrate when Jesus was baptized. How humbling. What a great tradition. They don't give any presents, they just spend time with family and eat and play games.
So today we have a snow day on Ganna. If I was a super mom I would have a traditional Ethiopian dinner prepared..but I don't and I feel quite bad about it. Jersey talks about this Himbasha bread that was so good. Sometimes my girls crack me up how much spices they love in their food. They love it hot and spicy!
We have been singing and dancing to worship music all day in our house. And on occasion going out into the snow to play. Hoping for daddy to bring a snow mobile home tonight. Wanted to post some pictures of the girls and their mom and grandma..oh they love them so much.
